ABSTRACT A descriptive and quantitative study was undertaken to investigate the influence of universal secondary education on girl child education Kitswamba Sub County in Kasese district. The following objectives have been formed to guide the study to investigate the roof universal secondary education on girl child education in regards to enrolment of students; to assess the impact of universal secondary education on girl child education in regards to government inspection; and to identify the policies that has been set to improve girl child education in secondary schools. Stratified sampling technique was adopted to obtain forty five (45) respondents for the study. They included teachers and students. Both primary and secondary data were gathered. Findings reveled that; The study revealed that universal secondary education has had an effect on the enrollment of girl child education because parents are withdrawing their children from private secondary schools that poor parents are choosing to withdraw their children from ECO enters and / keep them at home until they reach the age of secondary school entry . They refuse to pay the fees for ECD on the grounds that ECD, like secondary education, should be free. The study further revealed that government reduced on the number of visits to the centers. Finally the study sought polices that would help on the impact of universal secondary education on girl child education and the respondents suggested that free education should extend to ECD. The study also found out that government did not use the available policies.
